Wandering around Bolzano

Take a leisurely stroll across Piazza Walther, meander through the picturesque arcades, go window-shopping, enjoy an aperitif, or savour a delicious gelato … sounds tempting? Then head for the provincial capital of Bolzano – located only 10 kilometres from Lingers Suites & Residence.

Castles, palaces, and ancient ruins

This is what Eppan is particularly famous for (apart from the wine). We recommend the circular castle hike around the “castle triangle”. It leads to Hocheppan Castle, the ruins of Boymont Castle, and Korb Castle. The starting point is only 5 kilometres from Lingers Suites & Residence.

The path of in vino veritas

As wine is the main attraction in Girlan, a nature and wine trail was opened a few years ago. Information boards are located along the path so you can learn more about the local grape varieties and cultivation methods. The trail starts at Hotel Mandelhof and takes around 45 minutes to complete.

MMM Firmian

It’s one of the six Messner Mountain Museums and is housed in Firmiano/Sigmundskron Castle, which towers high above Bolzano and Girlan. Here, extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner explores the relationship between human and mountain.

A different kind of museum visit

You think museums are boring? Not always! In the South Tyrolean Wine Museum in Kaltern, just 7 kilometres from Lingers Suites & Residence, you can learn exciting details about South Tyrolean wines and the local cultivation methods.

The earth pyramids on Mt Renon/Ritten

They bear witness to the extreme power of water. The formation of the earth pyramids in Unterinn dates back to the late Ice Age, when glaciers deposited moraine clay and then covered the clay with stones. Over the millennia, heavy rainfall hollowed out pointed columns of earth beneath the stones.

In the footsteps of dinosaurs

The Bletterbach gorge in Aldein is a paradise for all amateur archaeologists and passionate palaeontologists. The canyon provides information about the layers of rock, millions of years old, that lie beneath us and the dinosaurs that once lived here.

Spa town or historic city?

Anyone who enjoys exploring the cities of South Tyrol should pay a visit to the spa town of Meran. Even Austria’s Empress Sisi was aware of the healing climatic conditions in the Mediterranean town and spent much time there. The historical city of Brixen awaits you with its picturesque old town and the impressive Brixen Cathedral.

Soothing refreshment in summer

In summer, a heavenly garden with outdoor pool and whirlpool awaits you at our hotel. The Monticolo/Montiggler Seen lakes, located around 6 kilometres away, also offer wonderful refreshment on hot summer days. Swim a few laps in the cool water or simply relax on the shore in the shade of the forest.
